FAQ
What is Counseling?
Counseling, or Psychotherapy — also called talk therapy or usually just “therapy”— is a professional relationship between you and your therapist devoted to your well being and psychological healing. Relieving your emotional pain, reducing your symptoms, improving relationships, or changing your behavior or lifestyle may be parts of that goal.
The main way we achieve the goals of counseling is by talking together. Clients are most likely to improve if they trust their therapist, feel understood by their therapist, and experience genuine concern and support from their therapist.
How do I make an appointment?
Click here to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation and speak with your therapist and determine if they will be a good fit for you. During this consultation, the therapist will briefly ask what you are seeking counseling for, go over fees, frequency of appointments, and policies of the practice. If both parties agree to move forward, a counseling appointment will be scheduled.
Do I need insurance?
We currently accept United Healthcare, Cigna, Aetna, Oscar, and Pptum. Self-pay is also available
How much do you charge for each session?
Self-pay rates:

What happens during my first appointment?
For your first appointment, the therapist will go over your intake paperwork and try to identify goals to work towards. In order for the therapist to really get an idea of what’s going on and how you’re feeling, they may ask some common questions. These could include:
- How long have you been experiencing the problem or issue?
- What have you tried to help you cope with it?
- What do you think the cause of it could be?
- How often are you suffering from it?
- What was your life like before this issue or problem was present?
There are many other questions that a therapist will ask once you start talking about your presenting problem.
How long will I need therapy?
All individuals are different and may vary on how long they might need counseling.
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth allows providers to meet clients where they are, eliminating direct contact while maintaining face-to-face communication. The client will meet with their counselor through a HIPAA-compliant video conferencing software. Instead of traveling to an office, you hop on your computer/tablet or smartphone and receive a HIPAA-secure link to your email to gain access to the video chat.
Are your sessions confidential?
All sessions are confidential. Any information that you share with us, whether it is information about you in our records or simply the fact that you have come to see us, cannot be shared with others without your prior written permission or as required by law. The law in the State of Florida mandates that information may be appropriately shared when the following conditions exist: If you present an imminent threat of harm to yourself or others, or when there is an indication of abuse of a child, dependent adult, or elderly adult.
