ANXIOUS
Everyone feels anxious at different times in their lives. Anxiety exists because it is meant to protect us from danger. Ever heard of the “fight or flight” response? It’s when your body decides to either “fight” to protect yourself from danger, or “flight” to run away from the danger. Anxiety occurs when your mind convinces itself that you are in a dangerous situation and wants to enact the “fight or flight” response to protect you. The problem here is that sometimes our minds create danger that does not exist in reality and this creates symptoms of anxiety in everyday situations. Feeling anxious in school, in public spaces, or right before you go to sleep are all examples of your mind creating danger in normally safe spaces.
